Question by Joe Kevin: Xbox 360 major problems. E79/E71 with detailed symptoms.?
I have an xbox 360 with the e79/ e71 error. When the harddrive is in,
i get the e79 or it freezes in the boot up. With the hdd out, i
usually get e71, but occasionally get e79 or no error and just 3 red
rings. I have not gotten it to the the dashboard in about 200 boots
and am starting to give up. I have tried deleting my cache and i have
tryed clearing all failed updates. A few weeks ago the cache thing
worked. It worked for a week then crashed again. I have recently
opened the xbox up. It was very dirty so i cleaned out the dust. It
worked for about 20 minutes so i decided to try online. I put in the
online cable and it told me to update. I did so. The first update went
smoothly, followed by 3 red rings. I restarted and i had to update
again. After i rebooted again. It crashed. It now takes about 30
seconds to begin booting. It eaither freezes in boot, or i receive
e71/ e79.
When it did get to dashboard it ran for about 5 minutes, then froze.
It has disk read errors when the disk is unscratched, and it has
problems connecting the wireless controllers. The controllers would
start the console but would not connect for me to move anything. It
may be normal, but there is also a rattling inside of the box too. It
sounds to be between the memory card slots and the av cable. (mabye a
broken x clamp weld?) i do not see any popped caps. I just found a
glue mold inside that was not connected to anything. It is about the
size of the width of the harddrive?? I recently powered on the console and forgot to attach the disk drive. it was not conected to the internet. could my console be tagged for tampering?
I would appreciate any help.

thank you for your opinion on buying a new console, however, i would like to try whatever i can to resolve this issue by spending as little as possible. I would appreciate any thoughts on as to how i may fix this console. I am planning to try the x-clamp fix, but please comment if that would be a waste of time, or if you have any thoughts on my problem.

Heck Yea it will work! It’s HUGE overkill. Your GPS probably only draws < 1 AMP. It will work fine.

Question by Snackmaster5: Can you help me with new LCD TV and digital cable (including HDTV)?
I just bought a new TV, a LCD TV, and I also just had digital cable connected with high definition. I plugged the box in and connected the red-blue-green cord from the box to the TV and the red-white cord to the TV. I waited over an hour with the power to the box turned on (so it could boot.) When I begin setup for the TV, I click “cable”, then it asks me what to use to search for channels, and I pick “std.” Unfortunately, it only picks up 2 channels in the search (neither digital), and poor reception on both. I’ve had almost no help when I attempt to contact the cable company, and the booklets just explain what to do when you get to the digital screen. Can anybody help me (by giving me step by step directions) on how to get my TV to properly receive cable? I would definitely appreciate some help. Thanks.

You need to put your TV on the component channel to view the cable channels . You don’t need to set up the TV

Question by Professor Armitage: Is there a way to change the default setting on a VCR from switching to antenna when the power gos out?
Every time the power goes out the TV screen is blue and I need to go to menu and select “cable” as for some reason it automatically switches to “antenna” whenever the power goes out. They are going to be working on some electrical appliances tomorrow and going to be cutting the power. If all you want is a best answer you can show off your exceptional knowledge of TV’s and VCR’s in general and stand an excellent chance, but if you’d just kinda like to help a poor fool, please respond.
