I want to purchase a LCD TV/LCD Monitor for my PC. Which should I purchase – LCD TV or LCD monitor. Is LCD TV harmful for eyes as compared to LCD Monitor? Which is the best one?

An Lcd monitor is usually smaller (17 to 30 inch) and have a higher resolution then lcd tv. An lcd tv have the ability to decode tv signals and it’s usually way bigger in size (30 to 50 – or even over 100 inch)

So I recently purchased a new plasma tv with all the connections available on the back (composite/component/hdmi). Currenty I only have a dvd player that has a composite and component outputs. With my old tv I used the composite(R/W/Y) because its all the tv could accept. Now that I have my new tv , I want better defination out of my dvd since it allows it w. the component outputs. The dvd player does not have an HDMI output so I purchased a “component to HDMI cable” w. the 5 prong to the DVD player and the HDMI in the tv… but it shows no picture when i set my input to hdmi 2 where its plugged.(hdmi1 is my directv). Whats up???

I am sorry to tell you this but the component to HDMI cables that people sell do not work in situations such as yours. I would use the component cables and set your DVD player for progressive scan. This will give you the best picture possible.

These devices are extremely rare, and if you have one, your user’s manual will clearly state as much. Unfortunately, because there are a few such devices on the market, there are now “HDMI to Component” cables being marketed in various outlets (we’ve seen them on Amazon and eBay), and the sellers of these products often do not appear to realize that they will work with only a very small, limited class of devices. Don’t buy one just to try out; unless your manual says it will work, it WILL NOT.
