My most recent client had a Gateway desktop that wouldn’t boot. The Gateway would boot to a screen that said AUTOCHK missing skipping auto check….. then reboot. The clients PC would not allow me to access recovery mode. After backing up the data with drivesnapshot I proceeded to try and fix the machine.
I was able to get into recovery mode by going into safemode (F8 on start up) and then choosing boot to windows. Only then did it give me an option to access the recovery mode. I then restored the computer with a backup and proceeded with the repair.
Next I cleaned up the PC and removed all the junk with PC-decrapifier. Ran the updates for windows and reinstalled his business applications. I recommend he start using a backup service.
