I installed a Linksys wireless N USB card on my computer. I noticed that my connection speed was around 21% and the my computer was running very slow. Even if the network connection was less than good my computer still shouldn’t be running so slow. I looked at my task manager to see what was taking up so many resources.
I noticed a program called nmsrvc.exe was taking all my resources 95 to 100%. It is related to the Linksys software that I installed for the wireless USB adapter. I killed the program and that did the trick. Not only did my connect strength jump from 21% to nearly 60% my computer was back to normal. You can delete that program. It helps manage the wireless connection and I found I didn’t need it on my XP OS.
