Dell Desktop gx280 question?

Hi all!! So i just got this 2nd hand Dell GX280 SFF(small form factor) and would like to upgrade a couple of parts. I would like to know if the follow parts will fit and which type & amount of Ram will be better to install. 1# Ram - Kingston 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 400 (PC2 3200) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model KVR400D2N3K2/2G - Retail http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820134181 I saw a post stating that since my FSB is 800mhz I should stick with DDR2 PC3200 400Mhz Ram so it will match with my FSB. Now the only problem with that is DDR2 PC3200 only comes in max 1gb sticks and my unit only has 2 slots so 2gb of ram max. Is it better to use DDR2 533MHz, PC2-4200 ram since it comes in 2gb per stick so I can upgrade to 4gb?? I want to know which will work well with my gx280. #2 - Hard drive Will this fit in my system? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136317 Western Digital Caviar Green WD10EADS 1TB 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive #3 - Video Card I want to run dual screen to a 19" Dell monitor via DVI and to a 32" sony LCD via HDMI. Is that possible? I was thinking about this card here. Answer
you want to max your memory so the 2Gb stick is the answer, you want 4Gb total check your machine here, on left side of page, click check your computer: (you have to install active X control to check): http://www.memoryx.com/

I got a Dell Optiplex GX280 Desktop (DT) that needs a new case. Where can i get a replacement? ?

Before you comment on this, please note that this is not a normal run of the mill Dell setup. The motherboard is designed where the I/O ports and the PCI slots are reversed from everything i have used to this point. I want to know if anybody out there can recomend a specific case to put this in other than a replacement Dell case or a custom made one.

Answer
So to confirm. When you look at the back of the computer the PCI slots are at the top and the I/O ports are at the bottom? Is this the tower: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/opgx280/en/ug/sffindex.htm or this: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/opgx280/en/ug/sdindex.htm Update: This tower may work: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3756961&CatId=3428 Or one like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129034

Answer

What Processors will fit on a Dell Desktop GX280?

It comes with an Intel Pentium 4, 3 Ghz speed; processor number 530.

Answer
Thats an LGA775 processor - the same socket used for many of the Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Quad chips on the market today. As long as the chip you get is an LGA775 connector, it will fit into the system. You may need to do a BIOS update for the chip to function (all cores, for instance) correctly.
