With iPad being in the 500-700 dollar range, and the the Samsung Galaxy being in the 500-650 dollar range. It’s safe to assume the the Xoom will also be in that price range. If you can wait a couple of months after the Xoom release. You can get a really decent Chinese imitation that runs Android 3.0 in the 130-200 dollar range.

I’ve been thinking about getting an iPad. I was wondering if it had any sort of external speakers (or like the iPhone, doesn’t, but still can project sound)? And also if you can plug a regular headphone jack into it. The iPad has a speaker built-in. It’s along one edge, just to the right of where you’d plug it in or dock it. On the opposite edge, there is a headphone jack. So it plays sound just on it’s own without any accessories (and pretty well too), or you can plug in external speakers or headphones as you wish.

i am going this weekend to get mine, and believe me i have done my research yep they really do cost 49.99 dollars most people just buy the iphone to use it for an ipod, but if you want to switch a plan like im going to do, i have a samsung reveal and im going to swich, but you have to buy a micro sim, like a mini sim card, get your plan transfered and thats it

However, I know very little about these. I was wondering if I would need to pay for WiFi or Bluetooth to use it or if that just came with it. …or, as the title question stated, if there would be any other expenses besides the initial cost of the tablet.

The short answer; generally yes.
The longer answer; It depends if you already have WiFi access at home. You might be able to get free ‘net from your neighbours.
If not, you’ll need to get a WiFi access point, but your modem might already have this built in. If not, they shouldnt be any more than $ 50
Or, if you’ve got a fairly recent mac, you can turn that into a WiFi access point for free
